As a teacher, instructional coach, and community advocate, I believe it is my responsibility to ensure that my students are college and career-ready and grow to become productive citizens of our society. Every child deserves a great education and students need dedicated adults and communities supporting them every step of the way. I believe this because I've lived it.

As a former Metro Nashville Public Schools student, and after nearly 10 years as a classroom teacher, I realize that students need more than just great teachers; students need great policies and laws to maximize their opportunities for success. My experience in the classroom and desire to help better public education and our community have led me to run for school board. I am committed to improving the current state of education by creating more community partnerships in schools, working to recruit and retain great teachers, and working to secure more funds for additional school programs and services.

Fewer than 45% of the children in our city this past year have scored proficient on end-of-year state testing. We must do better, and there are steps we can take - right now. We can expand course offerings, reduce class sizes, and provide our kids with the skills they need to compete in a global economy. We can also ensure our teachers have the support and resources they need to prepare our students for success.

I am committed to leading by listening and working with families and the community to ensure students have the best possible outcomes. I look forward to hearing from you. I want to know what’s working well and where you’re concerned. Together we can work towards a stronger Nashville. On March 5th, I hope I can count on your vote.
